Will I experience pain during the session?

The short answer is no. Massage therapy should not cause pain; pain can cause muscles to seize up making it harder for the therapist to provide a relaxing session. If the pressure is too much, SPEAK UP and let the therapist know. However, with certain techniques, such as deep tissue or cupping, you may experience sore areas for a few days after the session.

________________________________________________________________________

Will one massage be enough?

Depends on the needs of the individual. One massage may bring immediate relief and relaxation, but for long-term benefits, multiple sessions are recommended. Some come in once a month for relaxation and some come in every couple of weeks to deal with injuries. It is important that you continue to stretch daily and adhere to proper body mechanics outside the spa to maintain tension relief.

What can I expect during my first massage session?

The massage therapist will ask preliminary questions to determine your overall health and wellness goals. The massage therapist will consider your physical condition, medical history, lifestyle stress levels, medications, and any areas of physical pain that could affect the massage. This information will help the therapist structure the session to your individual needs.

You will be asked to undress to your comfort level, once the therapist has left, and to remove any jewelry you do not want oil/gel on. You will get underneath the sheets and usually begin face up. The therapist will take notes about where they feel tension throughout the session.

Can I talk during the massage session?

You may choose to talk or not to talk. Conversation is guided by the client. The therapist is happy to listen but prefers not to talk about topics such as politics or their private life.

What if I have to go to the bathroom?

You will be asked about using the restroom prior to the session, however, some people may need to use the restroom during the session. We have robes available for you to quickly change into to be able to go upstairs and use the restroom modestly. Session time does not pause for you to use the restroom.
